The Out Like a Lion Race weekend consisted of a 33 mile road race Saturday and a 45 minute criterium Sunday. Susan placed 5th in the Women's Open road race and Amy placed 14th (4th Cat 4 Bonus). Sunday Susan placed 5th in the Women's Open race and Dawn placed 5th among Cat 4 Women. Great racing!
The Greenville Spring Series started the 2008 racing season the last weekend of February and the first two weekends of March. Team Bi-Lo had a full squad over the three weekends and numerous top places from racers Amy, Dawn, Jen, Susan, Kimberly, Caroline, Melissa, and Giselle . Susan gained enough points to upgrade to a category 1, and Amy and Melissa to upgrade to category 3's. Susan placed 4th in the Women's Cat 1,2,3 overall, while Amy and Melissa placed 1st and 3rd, respectively, in the Women's Cat 4 overall. Way to start the season!
The annual Icycle 2008 mountain bike event took place in scenic Western North Carolina February 2nd. The route was a 7 mile loop featuring a variety of terrain including rocks, roots, creeks, and wide open passing lanes. Team Bi-Lo racer Cissy competed in the expert category placing 4th overall. Great job!
Team Bi-Lo hosted two WOW (Women on Wheels) educational seminars in January and February at the Great Escape Bike Shop. The sessions were an opportunity for women to meet and mingle with other women cyclists, learn about nutrition, fitness, training, safety, and much more.
